Sameer Kulavoor of Bombay Duck Designs glorifies everyday moments. Kulavoor says his OH FLIP! illustrated, physically-animated flipbooks draw attention “to these little gems in our day to day life that often go unnoticed, and in a small way keep them alive for a generation that may soon forget them (with the advent of massive coffee chains).” One book features the action of pouring a filter Kaapi in between two glasses, common in South India, while the other shines light on the many colorful syrups decorating the ice gola, a standard summer street drink. – BEYOND INDIAN KITSCH – KYOORIUS.

We’re suckers for anything that comes from the hand of Sameer Kulavoor, the nimble draughtsman who runs design studio Bombay Duck Designs. And with his latest release, a flip book on “Filter Kaapi” he’s given immensely fun form to one of our favourite treats: filter coffee. Thumb through it quick, and you’ll see two arms moving the hot liquid between two containers in fluid motion. Kids, don’t try this at home. – MUMBAI BOSS
