A flipbook is probably one of the earliest forms of motion animation which have managed to keep up with time. It’s fun, takes seconds, fits in your pocket and doesn’t need to be charged with power. But behind the tiny books of animation is a long and arduous journey that the creator goes through. “While the animation itself takes anywhere between 10 days to a month, the design and production takes much longer. Then of course the rigours of making a dummy, getting the registration, sequence and crops right and the final production/packaging etc. It is tedious and time consuming, but a joy to see it in the end,” says Sameer Kulavoor, founder of Bombay Duck Designs.
